if there is such a thing as justice, lisa got her share of it at the athens 2004 olympic games. the original 2004 usa olympic team was: jennifer capriati, chanda rubin, venus williams and serena williams for singles. lisa raymond, martina navratilova, serena williams and venus williams for doubles. the 10th of august 2004, 3 days before the beginning of the games, jennifer capriati withdrew from the team. lisa took her place. a chance to play both in singles and in doubles. what a way to balance out the unfairness of four years before.

[+] like the tennis venue for the 2000 sydney olympics, the olympic tennis centre was designed by richard rees of britain.

[+] the centre has 16 courts, including the centre court, with a seating capacity of 8,000, and two other main competition courts.

[+] the surface of all the courts is decoturf II, the same kind of hardcourt surface used at the u.s. open.

[+] cost of the centre was $50 million (cdn)

[+] OAKA complex also includes olympic stadium, olympic indoor hall, olympic aquatic centre and olympic velodrome.

... it was on the day of lisa's 31st birthday that the usoc and usta announced that jennifer capriati had withdrawn from the singles competition due to an injured right hamstring and was to be replaced by lisa raymond in singles on the us team in accordance with olympic tennis regulations as the highest ranked singles player on site not already in the singles field.
