[+] played her first tournament as a professional at eastbourne where she reached the third round. lost to patty fendick.
[+] won the ncaa singles title for the university of florida, defeating georgia’s shannan mccarthy in the final. played no. 1 singles for florida, leading the team to the ncaa team title. her ncaa title, combined with wins at the national collegiate clay courts and rolex collegiate indoor championships, gave her three of the four intercollegiate tennis association collegiate grand slam titles for the 1991-92 season.
[+] was a quarterfinalist at philadelphia as an amateur, defeating amy frazier, 6-4, 6-4, before losing to gabriela sabatini, 6-4, 7-6 (2). with shaun stafford, she reached the doubles final.
[+] reached the second round of the us open. defeated petra rittner and lost to eventual champion monica seles, 7-5, 6-0. the 7-5 set was the most competitive set any player had against seles during the tournament.

[+] on sept. 6, 1996, lisa raymond became the first gator to win a grand slam event, when she and mixed doubles partner patrick galbraith won the us open.
